Darkness Can Wait

Apr 17
1 min read

My eyes shut with fatigue

Like archival heavy doors

That blocked the light

and forced

The tiniest of rays out of my soul ...

Drowned in the darkness

Of my inner self

Behind the black curtains

Of my heavy lids

I dared to dream

Of light and hope

Saw millions of stars

Smiling at me

Hundreds of rainbows

Spreading joy

And a pot of gold

With 'Life' written on it

I forced my eyes open

Lifting mountains of darkness ...

The eyelids hurt

But who cares? -

With the wealth of sheer ecstasy

At my disposal

And the light of stars

Hidden in my pupils

Who cares

What aches

And what does not?

Let the pain take care

Of itself

While I will take life

Into my lap

And allow it to suckle

At my full breast

I will feed it

With the moon-drenched nectar

Fulfilling its cravings

Calming its hunger

Let the darkness wait

Let the poison wait

And wait ...

In the light of my eyes

I will greet the warm sunrays!
