Looking at the wonderful you

In the darkness of my woods

I saw brilliant leaves, green

They were you ...

I saw chirping little red birds

They too were you

Glimpses of the peaceful sky blue

And the rainbow radiant -

Again you!

But when my gaze met

The moist earth beneath

I saw crumpled, fallen leaves

That ached under my feet -

They were the other end

Of your being

Which was me

Through your vibrancy -

I discovered my sinking beat

Through your love -

My fading smile

Through your promise -

My lost tear

Through your song -

My last whimper

That's how through you

I walked the distance to myself ...
