Moonlit Nights
The time to go is close
My mind aimlessly races,
Pauses, brushes against
The moments lived
Through a jungle
Dark and thick
Complete with emotions
Impoverished and rich!
In crystal clear lakes
Elegant swans I met
Learnt white grace
That reflected on my face!
Also venom-bitten
By scary, black snakes ...
The magical stories
I hugged as I read
Enjoying nature's lavish spread
Relishing the taste of watermelons juicy
And strawberries delicate red
But as a special treat,
From humans,
I was forced into gulping
Endless synthetic pills ...
Oh! So very bitter ...
To satiate the ugly greed
Of many a cheat!
The pills turned my failing blue heart
Oh painful, toxic blue.
Now a mechanical heart installed,
Beating to a ventilator new.
Totally alien to me,
Metallic, shining, robotic new!
All I wanted was the God-gifted heart back
My radiant spirit, my spontaneous smiles back, back, back ...
Refusing to accept my metallic heart
I gulped the waters
Of intense faith in him
And rejoiced, humming life
Under the roofless roof
Of the ever-changing skies.
I danced on the rainbow
Birds chirped with me
Hugged flowers ever so gently ...
Their fragrance, dressing my soul
Lavishly ...
With deep gratitude, now
To Mother Earth I bow
Anxious to depart,
On an unknown journey
I must at once embark
Forgiving the insensitive minds
Leaving my precious belongings behind ...
With the winds, I kick-start
From a homeless jungle
Quite prepared for every hurdle
I walk on
To a sunny meadow
But lo and behold
It was a mirage
Of the sun-rays gold
Glazing hot sands
Where again my lost hope
Not finding any oasis
My bleeding heart
Now wrapped in a bandaged bundle
Like a wailing widow
The desert awaited me
With lush bouquets
Of thorny cacti
Clouds imposing, wondrous dark
Thundered auspicious Raag Malhaar
The melody of life from miles afar
Awakening me to my inner star
Welcoming the frenzy pouring
Of bounty rain, my spirit soaring
Witnessed my sparkling skin
Bring in a rare, exotic gift
Of a wrinkle or two so swift!
Ecstatic, I celebrated
It guaranteed, I was alive
To create, recreate and thrive
Life rotated between a moonlit
And a torchless night ...
Feeling restless, hearing birds' little sighs ...
I wore a turban of valour,
A weft of compassion
Defending human rights!
